The Bible lurks in the background of Western Civilization and modern culture–sometimes making a bold appearance and sometimes only recognized by the initiated. Why is this? This course will focus on the role of the Bible in/on popular music. We will explore the use of the Bible as inspiration and content in music by many artists. How do these musicians read the Bible, and does music influence the way we read the Bible? Each meeting will be stand alone and deal with music related to a single biblical story, so join for one or both.
