Mission Statement

Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El is a warm and friendly, egalitarian Conservative synagogue devoted to enriching our members’ lives. We enable our members to achieve their own Jewish identities through innovative and traditional worship experiences, lifelong learning, fulfillment of Mitzvot and community involvement. As a vibrant, multigenerational congregation, we serve and support each member in a caring, respectful and collaborative manner.

Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El, a Conservative Congregation located in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, has been a part of the Main Line Jewish Community for 60 years.

Education, prayer, and a sense of community continue to be the foundations of our synagogue. We were pioneers in being fully egalitarian in our services and in our leadership, and democratic in our “no assigned seats” policy for the High Holidays or any other service. Our schools have been recognized for their excellence and innovation. Our staff and lay leaders have been recognized locally and nationally for their creativity and quality.

At TBH-BE, we strive to
- Advance and strengthen Jewish observance and values
- Foster a love of learning and positive Jewish identities
- Instill a sense of responsibility to the Jewish people, Israel, and the local and global community
- Promote warm and caring friendships among our members

Our Synagogue Today
Under the spiritual leadership of Rabbi Ethan Witkovsky and Hazzan Eugene Rosner, Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El continues to grow and excel as one of the most vibrant and dynamic Conservative synagogues in the Philadelphia area.

Prayer, education and community are the foundations of our congregation. Our leaders emphasize active participation in all aspects of synagogue life.

Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El is a BEIT TEFILLAH
Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El is a member of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism and proudly affiliated with The Jewish Theological Seminary of America. All of our services are egalitarian, and our engaged membership participates fully. Youth Services, beginning with Tot Shabbat and continuing through the milestones of Bar/Bat/Gil Mitzvah, are held throughout the year. Our Havurah conducts lay-led Shabbat services three times a month, as well as on holidays.

Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El is a BEIT MIDRASH
Learning is a core value at Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El. Our Early Childhood Center is the home of our Nursery School, Kindergarten and Parenting Center. Our Religious School for primary and pre-Bar/Bat/Gil Mitzvah studies and our LMAHH High School are widely recognized for quality and excellence. Beth Hillel-Beth El is also known for its adult education programs, which provide interesting and interactive classes throughout the year. We proudly offer our Scholar-in-Residence program and an annual Torathon evening of learning, which are only two of our special events. Our congregation is a strong supporter of Perelman Jewish Day School, a Solomon Schechter affiliate, Barrack Hebrew Academy and Camp Ramah.

Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El is a BEIT KNESSET
Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El is, above all else, a warm, caring, and involved community. We embrace traditional and innovative ways of expressing our Judaism. We strive to promote warm and caring fellowship among our members and to instill a sense of responsibility for the Jewish people, Israel and the larger community. The congregation strongly supports the Masorti Movement in Israel. Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El is more than the sum of its parts: Sisterhood (affiliated with the Women’s League for Conservative Judaism), Men’s Club (associated with The National Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs), L’Chaim, Boomers, Young Explorers, Youth Groups - Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El is YOU.
