Using Music for Mood Motivation
A commentary within Mekhilta D’Rebbi Yishmael, Yitro, 4 suggests that when Moses received the Torah at Mt. Sinai he also received the melodious tunes that accompanied scripture. As we approach the holiday of Shavuot, the receiving of the Torah, I would also like us to appreciate the receiving of melodies, cantillation, and music. Music can elicit a plethora of memories and various emotions. Over the past few months I have been playing good oldies like "Bye Bye Birdie" sung by Ann-Margret, learning new car-tunes like
"Sunday Best" by Surfaces and my all time new favorite " Celebrate" by Ingrid Michaelson to brighten the day. Hope you are all making a playlist to get you through the day! Feel free to send any good songs our way.
In Health,
Hallie Chandler, Director of Community Engagement.
