Synagogue Updates

Friends,

It has been a long time since I have participated in a church. This morning, Lauren and I were able to sit outside in the beautiful weather and listen to the Mount Hermon Baptist Church worship service. The outpouring of love between our communities was inspiring. It was exactly what we wanted when Rabbi Cooper suggested our community join in their service today. Dozens of our congregants left messages of solidarity and support. Here are a just few of the comments that their members left in return:

• I haven't visited Temple Beth Hillel Beth Hillel in YEARS! Welcome to our house, and God Bless you All 🙏🏾💕
• Thank you to Rabbi Cooper and our Temple Beth Hillel - Beth El family for your visible demonstration of charity.
• We love some Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El! ❤️❤️❤️
• We love you for standing with us as we will continue to stand with you!❤️

This was our community at its finest in my mind, demonstrating our Jewish values by doing a very simple but impactful action. Thank you to each and every one of you that joined us. I am personally very grateful that I had the opportunity to participate. Next week, we will have the opportunity to once again say who we are as the synagogue holds our annual Pride Shabbat on Saturday. 

While we are beginning to transition to the summer, our staff and volunteers are not slowing down. Now that our area has moved to the Yellow Phase, our COVID-19 Task forces is exploring how we can provide meaningful opportunities for our community, in the next few weeks and in the coming months. We have some opportunities that we are exploring that we can't wait to share with you. 

We still want to encourage everyone to be safe. Just because the area is opening up does not mean that you should put yourself in greater risk. If you need help with shopping or anything else, please do not hesitate to let us know. 

We can't wait til when we are able to be together in person. I will be trying this week to focus on things that  am grateful for and things that make me laugh. I invite you to join me.
