In order to do your job well you need something that on a regular basis gives you delight and inspiration; something you are consistently passionate about. These five women have given me joy, laughter, and motivation that they have similarly used to get through their Adult B'not Mitzvah preparation. This experience motivates me all week until I get to see their smiling faces in person or over zoom on Sunday mornings. I am honored that this weekend they will be celebrating their commitment to Jewish education, life and learning. The light that clearly radiates from all your faces brings light to my week. I will surely miss the time we have spent together, and I look forward to engaging with you in further opportunities throughout the synagogue. This week I encourage everyone to consider what gives you delight and inspiration in your work and I hope you will all join us this weekend, with zoom information below, as we celebrate the B'not Mitzvah of these women.

Music from our Hazzan
Tzaddik Katamar, Louis Lewandowski. This piece for men's chorus is by the most famous composer of synagogue choral music. I first sang it in my first year of cantorial school. It was an eye opener. Only a year before I had joined Zamir Chorale (SATB) where Mati Lazar was music director. Mati also conducted the Cantors Institute Chorus, where most of the music was written for (TTBB), two tenors, two basses. At the time, women had just joined the chorus. They sang 1st tenor on the TTBB music, but Mati also selected SATB music so that the ensemble would be all inclusive. Click here to listen .
