Friends,

Welcome to Phase Green. We are back from our vacation and I have lots of emails from all of you to catch up on. I promise to get to them (and some of the other older emails) early on this week.

As Montgomery County transitions, the synagogue will be starting to provide opportunities to come together in socially distant ways. This morning, we did a pilot run of a live minyan outdoors. It was both great to see people together and gave us a chance to work through some of the technical needs so that we can improve the overall experience for those onsite and those online. We will begin to host weekly minyanim onsite. Stay tuned for a forthcoming schedule. We will continue to be conservative (pardon the pun) in expanding our offerings and to move slowly.

This Friday, please join us for our next drive-by event on July 3rd from 12:00 - 2:00pm. (See flyer below)
RSVPs are requested to enable us to order to have the right amount of food (and water balloons). You can rsvp online or by emailing Hallie.  Being in phase green will allow us to expand what we are able to do at the event, but we will still be focusing heavily on the safety of our community and will continue to monitor the county data.

At our Annual Meeting on July 8th, we will be sharing more of our plans for how the synagogue will operate during Phase Green and for the High Holidays. The Annual Meeting will be conducted via zoom and we will send out the login details in the next week. As I wrote a few weeks ago, one of the themes we will celebrate at the Annual Meeting is Community as Family. Thank you to the people that have already forwarded photos to me. If you have good photos of celebrations, vacations, or going out with other TBH-BE families, we would like to include them in our annual photo montage.

Last week, I shared about our new Challah Initiative. We have had a great response for people that want to bake, but not as many people that are interested in receiving at the moment (I can't say I am surprised because our community is known for being givers). Each week, I will include a link in my email to a signup form for making and receiving challot. I strongly encourage you to sign up to receive a challah (and to bake one of course). We wish to foster connections in our community and to encourage the baking of challah as a Shabbat ritual. We will confirm with all bakers and receivers about availability by Wednesday of each week. Sign up here: https://www.tbhbe.org/form/challah.html

Even though we have entered Phase Green, we are still offering shopping for our congregants and tech support. With the exception of our drive-by events, all of our programs will continue to be available online. Please do not hesitate to be in contact if there is anything we can be doing for you.

I look forward to seeing you at minyan, at the drive-by and online!

Ken
