Sunday Check-In

Friends,

This might be my latest Sunday Check-In yet. It was a sad, but meaningful day for our community.

Listening to a podcast today, I heard the following quote about trying to do everything and all of the balls we are trying to keep in the air, "The object of the game is to make intentional choices as to which ones to drop." As a community, there are so many projects that we want to be doing and so many ways that we want to connect with you and to help you connect with each other. However, we know that we can't do everything. For me personally, I will admit that this often puts me in a game of triage - so I want to apologize if I am not as quick at returning an email as I would like to be. One ball that we are definitely keeping in the air, one of our core priorities right now, is our planning for how we will conduct High Holiday services, open the ECC and Religious School, and plan for our fall calendar.  Thank you to everyone that attended last week's Townhall meeting and that is serving on one of our COVID-19 Task Forces. You are helping us to create our priorities and plans.

Our challah initiative continues to grow. We encourage you to sign up to bake or receive a challah.

As you hopefully know, we also have added Monday and Thursday morning in person minyanim. If you would like to attend, please let us know by RSVPing online. Simply click on the synagogue calendar and the minyan service you would like to attend. There is an rsvp form there. If you would like to attend an in person evening minyan, please email me to let us know your interest. If enough people are interested, we will start to schedule them as well.

Our Senior Staff will be having our retreat next week, and one of the assignments is to present a book (or article) to the group that can inform our work. I want to open that question to all of you. What book(s) would you recommend that we read? To that end, as we work on the upcoming year, please let me (and us) know, what would you programs would you like to see us bring to the community either virtually or in a socially distant way?

As we host our shivas online and I hear from our community members that have baked/received challah or shopped for/received shopping, I am continuously reminded what a special community that we have and that supports one another. Thank you for being an important part of our community. If there is something that we can do for you, please do not hesitate to let me know.
