We hope you read Rabbi Cooper's letter on Wednesday as we were preparing to enter the month of Elul. Below you will find a full list of service options and experiences. All service times will be sent out in a future email. Each of these areas will be expanded upon in future emails.

Main Sanctuary Service: Our sanctuary service will take place primarily, virtually. The service will be open to congregants that have honors and a limited number of people that are not able to experience the services in their homes. If you feel that you would like an honor in the sanctuary or that you wish to be in the sanctuary, please email Ken at kkrivitzky@tbhbe.org. We will work with observant congregants to set up the stream in advance of the holiday.  The service will be shorter than usual and will end by approximately 11:00am on Rosh Hashanah.

Lay Led Service(s) and Prayer Pods: This year, the lay led service will be held as a part of our Prayer Pod initiative. Families are welcome to gather together to create their own service experiences during these Holy Days. TBH-BE will support families that wish to watch the main service or to create their own experiences. If you are interested in creating a Prayer Pod, please contact Ken Krivitzky.

Family Services: There will be a variety of family service options this year targeted at families with different aged children. The services will be primarily over zoom. Activities and supplies will be available to families in advance. The family services will culminate in an in person, out door Neilah Service on Yom Kippur.

Young Adult Oneg: On the Second day of Rosh Hashanah we will host a young adult oneg at the synagogue.

Experience the Light from the Ark: We know that being in front of the ark is a powerful opportunity. We have scheduled opportunities for families to be in front of the open ark and to say their own personal blessings as well as read from the provided prayers. You can think of this as similar to standing at the Kotel/Western Wall and saying a personal prayer. We hope that this opportunity will elevate your holiday experience.

How to get a Mahzor: We are working on opportunities to come to the synagogue and pick up bags to help you celebrate the holidays. You will have the option to borrow a Mahzor (High Holiday Prayer Book) or to purchase your own. This will be done in conjunction with our Bring a Bag/Take a Bag Holiday Events, where we will be giving out High Holiday gift bags and collecting  cans for our annual food drive.

Shofar Blowing:  There will four series of opportunities to participate in and listen to the shofar being blown.

  1. Shofar blowing classes for beginners and the more advanced on August 30th
  2. Shofar Blowing around the neighborhood - we will be scheduling shofar blowers to go to different neighborhoods to blow the Ram's Horn for the community.
  3. Shofar Blowing at our events at the synagogue where people stop by
  4. A special Shofar Relay with Adath Israel on the 2nd day of Rosh Hashanah at 2:30pm.
  5. At the end of Yom Kippur at our out door Neilah Service.

If you are interested in blowing the shofar please be in touch with Ken

Tashlich: We will be hosting targeted Tashlich Services throughout the 2nd day of Rosh Hashanah. They will be at different parks and homes and targeted at different demographics. The goal is to have a series of socially distanced experiences instead of one larger communal Tashlich service.

Sukkot: We are still looking for extra Sukkahs for our Sukkah Village. If you have a Sukkah that you can donate or lend to the synagogue for the year, we will be building them around the parking lot. This is also a great year to build your own Sukkah. We will have a Men's Club event highlighting how to build your own or you can go to a website like SukkahDepot to order one. You are now able to sign up to order a lulav and etrog for this year.

There is truly so much going on and ways to get involved.  More information and signups will be in the weekly emails and the Pharisee and Program Guide Booklet that we will be sending out. We look forward to experiencing the holidays with you.
