Elul Reflection with Joel Freedman, President of the Congregation
I am writing this on September 11th, which always leads me to reflect on that tragic day nineteen years ago. It was the first day of the ECC and my two children were so excited to begin the school year. After watching the towers fall and having to explain the days events to our 3 and 5 year old, I found myself really needing to try to make sense of the world. Fortunately, within a week, it was the beginning of our high holiday season. It was that year that I started to attend services regularly. The comfort of being a part of our community helped me through those difficult days, and continues to provide me with a positive outlook for the future. While our country and the world are trying to navigate thru the COVID 19 crisis, may we all find comfort in being part of our community during the holidays as we celebrate and pray together.
