Recipe Shared by Hallie Chandler | A Family Favorite | Parashat Noah Cookies| Makes about 3 dozen cookies
Ingredients: mixing bowl and spoon measuring cups and spoons cookie sheets sharp knife waxed paper oven and trivet 3 small bowls (I like using glass or corning type bowls so food coloring doesn't discolor anything)
1 cup soft margarine 3/4 cup white sugar 3/4 cup brown sugar 2 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla 3 cups flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt food coloring
Directions: 1. Mix well: margarine, sugar, eggs and vanilla 2. Blend together: flour, baking soda and salt Mix them into the first mixture 3. Divide the dough into 4 or more parts. color each part with food coloring to make a color of the rainbow. 4. On waxed paper, pat each color of dough into a strip 4 inches wide and 1/4 inch thick (and as long as you have dough for - maybe 9 - 12 inches). 5. Stack the rainbow strips on top of one another. Press down to help strips stick together. 6. Wrap the pile in waxed paper and refrigerate overnight. 7. Pre-Heat oven at 375 8. Slice the layered block of dough in 1/4 inch slices. Gently curve the slice into an arch. 9. Place 10 - 11 cookies on a cookie sheet with parchment paper. They spread a lot! 10. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet at 375 for about 7 minutes.
