Shabbat-O-Gram

11/06/2020 03:36:52 PM

Nov6

As a counselor and unit head for over six years at Camp Ramah Darom, I must have made hundreds of Shabbat-O-Gram memos which were distributed to my campers and staffers every Hachanah L’Shabbat, our program prior to Kabbalat Shabbat as we prepared for Shabbat as a community. Some were filled with messages of encouragement, others humor, an exorbitant amount of candy, though mostly they were overflowing with gratitude. My Shabbat-O-Gram to each one of you today as we welcome in what will hopefully be a relaxing Shabbat is the following:

As Thanksgiving quickly approaches, I wanted to say thank you, our congregants, for everything you are doing to keep our community cohesive and strong. Thank you for your patience as we moved into a virtual world and back into a physical one. Thank you for your zoom background photos of gardens, the Leaning Tower of Pisa and hilarious animal and food images. Sincere appreciation goes out to our lay leaders and co-chairs for putting together fun and meaningful programming and to all of those that participated in them, making the conversations deep and the experiences meaningful. I hope that each and every one of you is able to find a blessing of gratitude, daily,  from now until Thanksgiving as no matter the unexpected happenings of the day, there is always something to be thankful for.

In order to continue with the trend of thanks we are offering two upcoming programs for Thanksgiving that we hope you will all participate in.

  1. Friends Thanksgiving | November 26 | 9:30 am – 10:30 am | RSVP Here
Co-Chaired by Rachel Dunaief and Amy Eisen. Join your TBH-BE friends on a Thanksgiving morning Zoom, with hot chocolate in hand, for Macy’s Day Parade trivia, schmoozing with friends, and sharing family favorite Thanksgiving recipes and stories. Please RSVP on the TBH-BE website.

  2. Giving on Thanksgiving | Starting now! | Delivery Nov 23-25
Have you ever made a Turkey Challah?  If you would like to bake one or more Thanksgiving pies, soups, cookies, Challah or brownies for congregants spending Thanksgiving weekend at home without their family or if you are looking for some desserts or sides for your Thanksgiving table please email Ken letting him know your needs/willingness to help out. We ask that all items be labeled if they have nut or/and dairy.

I am overwhelmed to share that this Thanksgiving, Danny and I will be expecting our first child. As I will be on parental leave, I truly hope you write down memories and stories to share with me when I return.

Please join us tonight, here, at 5:30 pm to celebrate and give thanks to those in our community who have been here for 10 years.

Many Thanks and Shabbat Shalom,
Hallie Chandler
