Good morning,
Today at 9:45am is our third and final session with our Scholar in Residence. Zoom link here. But don’t worry, starting after Thanksgiving, we have a great series of classes on the Afterlife with Saul Wachs on Tuesday evenings. Stay tuned. And we have our ongoing series of classes available each and every week.
As it is getting colder and darker early, we want to fill your calendar with opportunities for meaning and connection. We have a few Thanksgiving opportunities. A group of generous congregants have offered to bake desserts for you for Thanksgiving weekend. We would love to have you receive them – don’t be shy. You can sign up for dessert here. There are a variety of dessert offerings, so we will try to match up as best as we can (but no guarantees).
We have also scheduled a Friendsgiving program on zoom for Thanksgiving morning at 9:30am.
Looking ahead – we are very excited for Shabbat 100 on December 4th. We are trying to get at least 100 families to celebrate Shabbat together in some creative ways. There will be a challah baking class, we are bringing back our challah delivery program for one week only, and special services and programming throughout Friday evening. More information and sign up here.
For Hanukkah, we will be having our door community candle lighting at the synagogue each night. We have a special Hanukkiah being designed for this. Our Rabbinic Intern will be here on the weekend of December 11 – 13 and will be helping with the Candle Lighting and with the services that weekend.
As I have written, the COVID-19 numbers in our area have gotten progressively worse over the past few weeks, in terms of cases and hospitalizations. We are trying to operate in as safe a manner as possible and to create meaningful opportunities for connection. If you need help with shopping, technology, or preparing for the winter, please let me know.
Thank you to everyone that has delivered suitcases and backpacks thus far. I just took our first shipment downtown to drop them off. As a synagogue community, we are here to support you. We have a little bit of warmth today before the rain comes, I hope you are able to get outside. Wishing you a great week.
