Good morning,
I am excited to share this update, highlighting this morning's events, but I am in a race for time to get it out.
First, the snow has begun (again). Please let me know if our community can help you. We have had shoveling volunteers and have members with 4 wheel drive. Of course, if Giant's parking lot last night is an indication everyone has all the food they need.
This morning begins with World Wide Wrap. Our annual program teaching our 6th graders about tefillin and encouraging congregants to wear tefillin. This is always one of the most meaningful programs of the year for me - especially as the father of daughters. I am not a regular tefillin wearer, but to have that moment to connect me with tradition - putting on my grandfather's tefillin is really powerful. To have my daughters put on that same tefillin and to know that they have full access to the Jewish community is awe inspiring.

At 11:00 AM will be the Silver Circle Award honoring Paul Shandelman. Men's Club members will be giving out bagels in the synagogue circle to those that RSVP'd (we are still planning on being there in the snow - but please, be safe). Paul (and his family) embodies what is great about our community - service, the willingness to help others, creativitiy. He is well deserving of this award in member of Allan Fink.

At 12:00 PM, we have a very unique program on the Jewish community of Nigeria. Rabbi Cooper wrote an excellent letter about it on Thursday. I am fascinated to learn about this community.

Some other news and notes (primarily Sisterhood):
Sisterhood is working hard on their mishloach manot campaign. They were in the synagogue putting our bags together. Please remember, this year will be primarily a drive through event, but we will be adding a few wrinkles to make it exciting - such as Megrillah before the Megillah. More details to follow.
Sisterhood has started a new Facebook group: Join here.
The next two Thursdays will be great Sisterhood programs - Rosh Hodesh this Thursday and a special movie night on the 18th.
February is Jewish Disability Awareness, Accessibility and Inclusion Month. We are piloting a closed captioning system on one of our zoom accounts. If you have it available, please let us know what you think (today, it would be available for Silver Circle I believe). We have our special spaker on Sunday, February 21st at 11:30 AM - Kalman Samuels.
I look forward to seeing you at some of these great offerings. I wrote this one qickly, so please forgive any errors. Please be safe and healthy,
Ken
