Good morning and an early Happy and Healthy New Year to you.
This email will include information about tickets and security, parking, covid safety protocols, service locations, accessibility, and mahzor pickups.
Quick notes before I get into the heart of the email:
- While I will write about covid safety protocols later on in the email,I want to implore everyone, if you are not feeling well, unless you have taken an actual covid test and have a negative result, please watch services online.
- If you can take a moment - can you please retake the survey that we put out a month ago. Let us know which service you expect to go to. This will help us make any last minute adjustments that we need to.
- We are still in need of some ushers this year. If you are able to join us as an usher in the Sanctuary, please sign up here. The ushers help control the flow of traffic, ensure that people with honors are checked in and in the right place, and serve as a central resource for the service.
- We are excited for Tashlich. There are three options. Learn more and rsvp here.
- Our Shofar Relay with Adath Israel will be on Tuesday at 4:30pm. We can use a few backup shofar blowers and hosts. Can you help us? This is great for some of our Junior Shofar Blowers as well. A map is available here for those that want to listen to the shofar.
- I hope you saw the email on Thursday with zoom links. It is available here for those that are logged into the website or you can check out your email.
- Thank you to all of our Challah Bakers and Deliverers this summer. You are making our community a better place. We have started delivering to new members of the community and to families that have been sick and people are really appreciating it.
Tickets: You should have received your High Holiday tickets by now. If you have not, please email me. Your tickets are going to get you onto the property. This year, because there are services outside, we will have security guards stationed at the entrances to the campus (including near the Remington and Playground walking entrances). They will be asking to see your tickets when you are coming onto the campus. Please have them out and available because we do not want traffic backing up onto Remington or Lancaster.
Parking: Parking will be similar to how we have operated in the past. You are welcome to park in the main or back parking lots. You are welcome to park on the grassy area next to Lancaster which can be entered from the back parking lot. When the parking lots are full, you are able to park in the neighborhood. Please do not block anyone's driveway or park on private roads. We expect less people to be in attendance than past years, but if you are able to walk, we encourage you to do so.
Covid-19 Safety Protocols: Masks are required for everyone inside the building. Vaccinations are required for everyone 12 and over to attend services inside. Our services are being setup for social distancing. The sanctuary is ribboned off to allow seating in some parts of rows and not others. The Cherry, Chapel and Tent services will have their seats spread out.
Service Locations: Our outdoor tent to view the Main Sanctuary Service has been setup in the grassy area in front of the school building and mansion. Our Family Service Tent will be set up in the newer parking lot, near the gatehouse. That section of the parking lot will be blocked off.
Accessibility: Our Zooms are set for closed captioning. We have assisted listening devices in the Sanctuary and Chapel. If there is an accomodation that we can be making for you, please let me know.
Mahzor pickup and online versions: We will be in the office between 9 and 10:30am today and tomorrow to pick up mahzorim to borrow. Online versions of the Day 1 Family Mahzor is here and Day 2 Family Mahzor is here.
I am sure that there are questions that you have that we have not covered in one of our High Holiday emails. We are available for questions and will be managing technology during the holy days. But I also want to ask a favor: if you have a question that does not need an immediate answer, please do not email it to the staff over Rosh Hashanah (or Yom Kippur or Shabbat, etc). This will allow us to focus on technical emergencies and to be able to focus ourselves on the holidays.
Thank you so much! Once again, wishing you a sweet and healthy New Year,
Ken
