The end of the High Holidays is always a strange time around the synagogue - part let down from the holidays coming to an end, part need for a recharge and part anticipation for the return to standard time and our regular programming. Today's beautiful weather was definitely appreciated, but we are not done yet! Tomorrow morning, you can join us in person and online for Hoshana Rabba in the morning, Tuesday will be Shemini Atzeret and Tuesday night will begin Simchat Torah. Our celebration of Simchat Torah is currently at capacity. If you rsvp'd and are not able to make it, please let me know because we are creating a waiting list. If you want to attend, please email me and we will see what we can do.
Even once the holidays are done though, there are some exciting things coming up. I am particularly excited about the opportunities to learn over the next few months. Here are a few of the upcoming class series:
A new Thursday morning Parsha of the Week online class with Rabbinic Intern Jonathon Adler
A class teaching Parents about Israel so you can best help your students when they get questions
USCJ's Online Scholarstream - TBH-BE access code coming soon
A class with Rabbi Alan Iser on "Who is a Jew" starting starting on October 18th
A class with Rabbi Cooper on Israel's Moral Mandate starting on October 21st
Speaking of Israel - lots in the news right now. The House overwhelmingly and in a bipartisan fashion passed support for the Iron Dome. Prime Minister Bennett will be addressing the United Nation's on Monday at 9:00am. I believe you can watch it here.
As our family enters into Bat Mitzvah mode - I want to remind all of our Bnai Mitzvah families (current and future) - we want to promote your service projects. Email me and I will try to include a listing of projects and events. Here are a few of our first ones:
- Gabi Perlis just did a swim-a-thon raising money for Save a Child's Heart and swam 5000 meters. There is still time to donate.
- Amelia Krivitzky has two upcoming events raising money and awareness for Keshet and about the LGBTQ and ally communities. Sunday, October 10th: Q & A: Question and Answer/Queers and Allies Bagel Brunch and Sunday, October 17th: Pancakes for Pride
Wishing you a great week and I hope you are able to enjoy the weather in a Sukkah (and if you don't have one, there is still time to enjoy the synagogue sukkahs),
