10/17/2021 07:44:15 AM

Oct17

Good morning,

I am sending out this email early so that I can focus on making pancakes this morning. Come and join us between 8:30 and 10:30 am if you are able.

Today's email is devoted to our Hesed activities/ Acts of Loving Kindness. We need your help and involvement. I am including opportunities from two of our community leaders below. We still encourage you to let us know when someone new moves into your neighborhood or if someone is not feeling well and needs some challah, soup or tlc. Challah, soup and tlc bags have been delivered to over three dozen households this way.

Wishing you a sweet week!

TBH-BE Hesed Committee update from Mindy Oppenheimer

Recently the TBH-BE community suffered a number of hard losses. Losing our beloved friends and community members is always difficult but, somehow, I think we are all feeling a different kind of weight this month. Among these losses was the passing of Rodney Green (z”l), past synagogue President and Trustee. When Rachel Dunaief and I were first reinvigorating the synagogue’s Hesed activities a few years ago, Rodney contacted me directly. I wasn’t aware of his epic breadth of service to the synagogue, all I knew was that he wanted to help build a caring community, it didn’t matter for whom or where. Rodney taught me that we all need to make time to support those around us, that this defines our character. Tell me friend, are you ready to up your hesed game? Will it be once a month, a week, a day? Follow the way of Rodney and so many others, let me know you’re ready, mindyopp@me.com. We will discuss how you can best help and you will be placed on a volunteer email list for times of need.

Challah Baking Update From Hallie Chandler, Rachel Sakofs and Taryn Wortman:

Bake and Take…A tasty new initiative at TBH-BE
Over the summer we have been successful in providing Challot to those who may need a helping hand and we would like to continue that tradition throughout the year. Love the smell of homemade challah but don't have the time, energy, and/or resources to bake challah every week? We can help.

Dough Makers &  Braiders: monthly opportunity to make challah for your family and the community, make a mess in the shul kitchen. RSVP Required
Join us to bake:  12:30 PM – 3:00 PM on: October 24, November 21, January 17 ,February 27, March 20, April 24, May 22, June 26

Challah Takers & Bakers: Some Challot will be pre-baked and others will be frozen dough that you can bake fresh at home. Please contact Hallie Chandler each week you would like to pick up to make sure we are still stocked!

Sponsor a Challah Bake: Love the idea and want to be sure there’s funding to keep the challah rising? Sponsor a challah bake for $50 dollars; please contact Hallie Chandler: hchandler@tbhbe.org
