We have so many important emails to be sending this week - the Pharisee came out, we are sending our zoom links for the High Holidays tomorrow - but in many ways, this might be the most important email that we send out this week. We have talked a lot about the importance of belonging to a community over the past year - and to that end, I have a strange request for each of you.
Do you have space in your refrigerator and/or...Read more...

First some logistics: High Holiday Tickets will be mailed at the end of this week/beginning of next week. There will be only one type of ticket for everyone attending (in the past, there were youth and guests and adults, etc) Tickets will be required for all indoor and outdoor services and will be mailed to those eligible members who have made payments on their account (if you have any questions, email me). There...Read more...

The High Holidays are just over three weeks away (3 weeks and one day, but who is counting?). We are obviously living in a time of great uncertainty, and I think my most important message is that it is ok for us all to not know exactly what the holidays will look like or what we will be comfortable doing. Our Clergy, staff, and lay leaders are working on creating a variety of service experiences to meet the different comfort levels of our...Read more...

Last year, we were pleased to present Brad Aronson, author of Human Kind, as a speaker. I still highly recommend reading the book, and having your family members read it, I found it very inspirational. We are exploring how we can 'systemize" acts of kindness/hesed. How do we get the requests for help, how do we activate our volunteers, what actions should we take?
Here are three examples of how this can play out:
Thanks to our fabulous challah bakers (sign up to bake here, sign up to receive here), we were able to deliver challah to a family that just moved to the neighborhood. One of our new neighbors is the executive director of another synagogue, we have no expectation that they will join our shul, but they are our neighbors and we were happy to take the opportunity to welcome them. We want to explore how to do this for all new neighbors, Jewish and nonJewish.
