Weekend Schedule - Change of Mask Policy

05/20/2022 12:13:47 PM

May20

Shabbat Shalom,

Last night, Montgomery County was listed as moving to a High Community Covid-19 Level. This change is based on an increase in the number of covid cases and an increase in the hospitalizations of people with covid. At the high level, the CDC recommends masking indoors for everyone. Beginning this evening, TBH-BE will be requiring masks again at all indoor services, events, classes and meetings, except while...Read more...

Shabbat Shalom,

It is an incredibly busy weekend for us (yeah!) and there is something for everyone. A few comments and highlights:

The Bat Mitzvah family is requesting that those coming to the sanctuary tomorrow for the service be masked.  Today's temperature is absolutely beautiful - so come out to the Chapel and Patio tonight for Shabbat services. Join me in sitting outside and enjoying the weather. Or come to the ECC...Read more...

Shabbat Shalom,

This email will be both a Friday check-in email (instead of the usual Sunday) and the Weekend schedule. This will allow me to be more present on Sunday for Mother’s Day. As we are strategizing over our communications, one of the potential plans is to combine these two emails to enable us to send something that might enhance your Shabbat experience, however you...Read more...

A lot of our focus this year has been on the concept of legacy: honoring the legacy of Rabbi and Lori Cooper (more details here), creating a legacy society for our community (more information on that coming to your mailboxes shortly). There is a powerful story from the Talmud that is often told when discussing legacy,

Talmud Bavli, Masekhet Ta’anit 23a: “One day he [Honi] was walking down the road when he saw a man...Read more...

Sunday Check-in: Changing Expectations

03/13/2022 03:29:43 PM

Mar13

Happy Sunday!

It seems oddly fitting that we had an unexpected snow storm yesterday, on the two year anniversary of our in-person services and programming temporarily closing for COVID. And yet, also fitting is that we had beautiful Shabbat morning services yesterday, a meaningful Havdalah Bat Mitzvah, and a wide array of programming throughout the weekend. Even though our lives changed, our community has continued to grow and...Read more...

Happy Sunday!

I am pleased to share this letter from Sharon and Joel Freedman as this week's check-in.

But first, here is the link for this morning's scholar in residence session at 9:30 AM.

I want to share an opportunity to celebrate Rabbi and Lori this month on the 19th with our Cabaret.  It will be filled with great musical acts by our community.

And now, here is the letter from...Read more...
